10-(1-piperonylpiperazinoalkanoyl) phenothiazines - with specific spasmolytic,antipyretic and antiemetic activity

Cpds. of formula:- (where R is 1-5C alkylene, opt. substd) and their acid-addition salts. The cpds. are spasmolytics with antiemetic and antipyretic activity. They are of low toxicity and have no effect on blood pressure, respiratory rate, CNS or gastric secretion. The spasmolytic activity is a little less than that of atropine, but is long-lasting and is more specific. No mydriatic effect is observed. Prepared by treating phenothiazine with a chloroalkanoyl halide, then condensing the 10-chloroalkanoylphenothiazine with 1-piperonylpiperazine.
