Radial and axial stabilisation is applied to a spindle by at least two friction discs and a sheave which engages with a ball pressed into the base of the spindle. The core of the spindle runs between three polythene discs. At a lower point there are a further two discs of polyurethane at centres coinciding with two of the upper set. At the base of the spindle, on an axis coinciding with the third disc is a sheave of harder material such as polyamide, hard polyurethane or PTFE. This sheave engages with a ball pressed into the spindle and pressure may be applied by a coil spring. |
