DIELECTRIC RESONATOR AND COMMUNICATION DEVICE USING THE SAME

A dielectric resonating element part that resonates in a TE01 delta mode is formed integrally with a protrusion part oriented perpendicularly to the bottom surface of the dielectric resonating element part. The peripheral surface of the protrusion part is tilted such that the area of the bottom surface of the dielectric resonating element part is greater than the area of the lower surface of the protrusion part. This structure can cause the magnetic field of the dielectric resonating element part to extend to the tilting portion of the peripheral surface of the protrusion part and also extend around there, thereby enlarging the distribution of the magnetic field under the dielectric resonating element part. Accordingly, even when input and output electrodes are disposed remotely from the protrusion part, they can be sufficiently tightly coupled to the dielectric resonating element part.
