TECHNIQUE FOR QUANTIFICATION OF OSTEOARTHROSIS PROGRESSION IN KNEE-JOINTS

The technique for quantification of the osteoarthrosis progression in knee-joints comprises X-ray examination of knee-joint in anterior-posterior projection in the standing position of the patient with the knee-joint flexed at the angle of 129 DEGREE -132 DEGREE . In X-ray picture, the line is plotted through the middle of the intercondylar groove. Another line is drawn perpendicularly to the first line via the point of its intersection with the contour of femur. The line is divided medially and laterally to four equal segments. The perpendiculars are descended through the middles of the stated segments to the articular surface of tibia. Their height from the point of intersection with the contour of femur to the point of intersection with the contour of tibia are measured with the aid of the transparent rule with the least division of scale of ? mm. The decrease in the height of the articular cleft in one of six points as compared to the preceding X-ray data is indicative of the osteoarthrosis progression.
