A method for water disinfection, in which method the biocide reagent based on guanidine polymer is entered into the water to an efficient concentration in the disinfected water. The water is processed by a composition, including, in addition, one complexing compound and at least one substance revealing surface active properties, at that the treatment of water is performed to the concentration of biocide guanidine polymer at a level of 0.5-3.5 mg/l, complexing compound - at a level of 0.01-2.0 mg/l, substance revealing surface active properties - at a level of 0.01-2.0 mg/l with mixing and subsequent maintenance of ingredients content in water at the specified level, and at that exposure is of 1-3 hours. The content (composition) for the water treatment in disinfection thereof includes aqueous solution of biocide guanidine polymer. In addition, the composition contains one complexing compound which forms stable water-soluble complexes with bi- and polyvalent cations of metals, and also at least one nonionic or cation-active substance revealing surface active properties. As biocide guanidine polymer polyhexamethyleneguanidine of general formula is used: , where: R1 - acid residue of mineral or organic acid; n = 5-50, or: polyhexamethyleneguanidine copolymer with higher monoamine of the general formula: , where: R2 - acid residue of mineral or organic acid; m = 30-40 or: polyoxyalkyl guanidine of the general formula: , where: R3 - acid residue of mineral or organic acid; k = 4-50.
