R2 = alkyl, 1-5 C atoms R3 = cyclohexyl or benzyl X = -CHO or -CH2OH A method for the prep. of pyridoxal 5-phosphate that does not require pyridoxal, pyridoxine or pyridoxamine, and is hence considerably cheaper than other methods.
