PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically fetch specific or inherent information corresponding to an application for each recording/reproducing device for utilization from program information recorded onto a hard disk. SOLUTION: The recording/reproducing device comprises a program information recorder 107 for recording the program information 106 containing data 303 related to program application information 302, 304, or the like, a program information extractor 203 for extracting the program information from the program information recorder, and a program reproduction section. The program information recorder 107 is detachable to the recording/reproducing device 201. The recording/reproducing device holds device application information 202 in which the application is written. The program application information 302, 304, or the like is information corresponding to the device application information 202. By retrieving the coincidence between the device application information and the program one, only program information inherent in the recording/reproducing device 201, to which the program information recorder 107 is attached, is extracted from the program information recorder 107 for display.
