PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a goods management system in which information can be collected from the tag of goods over a relatively wide range without requiring high cost. SOLUTION: The goods management system comprises a plurality of tags 2 each provided with a storage means 20 attached to each goods G and storing ID information 20A and an ID transmission means 24 for transmitting the ID information 20A by radio wave signal, a master unit 3 for receiving the ID information 20A from the tag 2, and a goods management device 5 for storing information specifying each goods G in association with the ID information 20A of each slave unit 2 and managing existence of the goods G based on the ID information 20A received by the master unit 3. The master unit 3 transmits information for requesting transmission of ID information to a specific slave unit by radio wave signal. Each slave unit 2 comprises a request receiving means 21 for receiving request information, and a request transmission means 22 for transmitting request information by radio wave wherein the request information from the master unit 3 is relayed to the specific slave unit by the request receiving means 21 and the request transmission means 22.
