PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reliable nonaqueous electrolyte battery which is excellent in discharge load efficiency less in the occurrence of shorting. SOLUTION: A positive electrode of a nonaqueous electrolyte battery faces a negative electrode across a separator. The nonaqueous electrolyte contains an oligomer comprising an urethane frame of which the value A represented by a formula (1) is 0.2-0.55 (hereinafter referred to as an "urethane oligomer"). The thermal shrinkage rate of the separator in width a direction (TD) or a length direction (MD) at 140°C is 10% or higher, while the thermal shrinkage rate in the width direction (TD) and the length direction is 70% or less. Here, a formula (1): A= formula mass of urethane bond/weight average molecular weight of the urethane oligomer, where the formula mass of urethane bond =59.02 (-NH-COO-).
