PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical component capable of suppressing occurrence of flare light and improving the observation quality of an index and a method for working a metallic mold for molding the optical component. SOLUTION: In the optical component having indexes formed on an optical surface and configured by collecting a large number of pieces of optical elements each of which comprises slopes having inclination angles at least in two directions or more and a ridgeline formed by the slopes coming into touch with each other, each of both the end parts of the ridgeline has a shape obtained by partially aligning at least two or more approximately circular cone shapes.
