PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a camera constituted so that the power source of a photometry circuit can be surely turned on before a photographing mode is switched, and also, the power source can be turned off after a lapse of prescribed time. SOLUTION: The power switch 100 of the photometry circuit 103 is turned on with an operation of depressing the mode operation part 22, and the photographing mode is switched by a photographing mode switching mechanism 9 with the operation of rotating the part 22. The side face 22a of the mode operation part 22 is formed into a tapered shape, and the rotating operation is locked by the engagement of a locking projection 87e and a recess 93a when the part 22 is not depressed. Thus, if the user tries to rotate the mode operation part 22, the part 22 is surely depressed before the rotating operation, then, the power switch 100 is turned on.
