PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polymer composition having excellent mechanical strength, low heat buildup properties and abrasion resistance, to provide a reinforcing particle suitable for affording the polymer composition, to provide a method for producing the same and to provide a vulcanizable rubber composition comprising the polymer composition. SOLUTION: The reinforcing particle is obtained by coating a reinforcing particle having silanol groups on the surface with a functional group-containing siloxane compound represented by general formula (I) (wherein, R<SP>1</SP>to R<SP>4</SP>denote each a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, a polar functional group having a group 15 or 16 atom of the periodic table or a 1-20C hydrocarbon group which may have a halogen atom or the polar functional group; at least one of R<SP>1</SP>to R<SP>4</SP>denotes a halogen atom or the polar functional group or a 1-20C hydrocarbon group having the polar functional group; R<SP>2</SP>and R<SP>3</SP>may each be the same or different; and n denotes an integer of 1-20,000). The polymer composition comprises the reinforcing particle. The vulcanizable rubber composition is obtained by compounding the polymer composition with a vulcanizing agent.
