A gripping device (81) has a U-shaped grip (3) with a middle section (5) and two flexible arms (9, 11), the free outer ends (13, 15) of which are provided with hook-shaped parts (17, 19) which area means of coupling in order to couple to a paint tin. Furthermore, the gripping device (1) has two locking elements (41, 43) that can slide along the grip, which are attached to the free outer ends (33, 35) of the handle (25) and which can be slid in front of the hooks of the hook-shaped parts (17, 19).
