<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an occupant restraint device which can house an airbag on the upper edge side of a window, and can maintain the tension generated at the lower edge itself along the forward and backward direction even when the inner pressure of the airbag drops. <P>SOLUTION: The occupant restraint device S is provided with an airbag 20 for protecting a head which is folded and housed on the upper edge side of the windows W1, W2, W3 of a vehicle, and which is developed and expanded from the upper edge side of the windows toward a lower position so that the airbag can cover the vehicle room side of the window at the time of inflow of the gas for expansion. Then the airbag 20 is provided with a plurality of cells arranged in parallel in the forward and backward direction, and the cells are for completing the expansion by narrowing the dimension in the forward and backward direction at the time of inflow of the gas for expansion. Then one end part 20c of the lower edge 20b of the airbag 20 at the time of completion of deployment and expansion is attached to the vicinity of the lower edge of the window in the forward and backward direction, and the other end part 20d is connected to a connecting member 35. A pretensioner 36 is provided to the edge of the window, and tows the connected connecting member 35 at the time of actuation, thus generates the tension at the lower edge 20b itself of the airbag 20 at the time of completion of deployment along the forward and backward direction. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
