<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an occupant restraint device which can house an airbag on the upper edge side of a window, and can maintain a tension generated at the lower edge itself along the forward and backward direction even when the inner pressure of the airbag drops. <P>SOLUTION: The occupant restraint device S is provided with an airbag 20 for protecting a head which is folded and housed on the upper edge side of the windows W1, W2, W3 of a vehicle, and which is developed and expanded from the upper edge side of the windows toward a lower position so that the airbag can cover the vehicle room side of the window at the time of inflow of the gas for expansion. Then one end part 20c in the front and rear direction of the lower edge 20b side of the airbag is fixed to the edge of the window, and the other end part 20d is connected to the moving piece 42 of a towing device 36. The moving piece 42 is guided to a guide rod 41 through rotary drive of a screw rod 40 with which the moving piece is engaged, and moves down while towing the end part 20d. Then the towing device 36 places the moving piece 42 in the lowermost end position, and generates the tension along the front and rear direction between the end parts 20c and 20 d of the lower edge side 20b of the airbag. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
