PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cleaning medium, which hardly wear a magnetic head of high density magnetic recording/reproducing device, etc., especially for an MR head, and a reproduction output is restorable while having an adequate cleaning performance and also there is no corrosion for the magnetic head after the cleaning. SOLUTION: This cleaning medium is constituted so as to prepare a cleaning layer including a ferromagnetic powder and a binder on a non-magnetic support and to prepare a non-magnetic back layer on a face opposite thereto. It is characterized in that a surface of the aforementioned cleaning layer is 10-20 in C/Fe peak ratio according to an Auger electron spectroscopy, 0.2 or smaller in C1/Fe peak ratio, and also 0.03-0.1 in N/Fe peak ratio.
