<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a honeycomb filter which can suppress rise of pressure loss attendant upon increase of heaped materials on a partition wall and which can comparatively simply and accurately detect the amount of heaped materials on the partition wall and to provide a production method therefor. <P>SOLUTION: The honeycomb filter 1 is provided with the partition wall 2 which forms a plurality of cells prolonged in a direction of minus and a sealing part 4 which alternately seals the cells 3 at end parts 42, 44. The partition wall 2 is made of a porous base material of 35 to 75% porosity. When (A)μm denotes mean pore diameter of the base material measured by a mercury press injection method and (B)μm denotes mean pore diameter thereof measured by a bubble point method, mean pore diameter difference percentage expressed by ä(A-B)/B} *100 is ≤35(%), mean pore diameter (B) is 15 to 30μm and further maximum pore diameter measured by the bubble point method is ≤150μm. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
