<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fault detection system for an ATM multiplexer capable of specifying a portion where abnormality of data occurs, in an ATM cell. <P>SOLUTION: A discrimination means discriminates a test signal resulting from scrambling, by a scramble means, a test cell generated by a test cell generating means, a test signal converting means converts the test signal into an optical signal of a predetermined wavelength different from that of a main signal, and the converted optical signal and an optical signal relating to the main signal are then multiplexed by a multiplexing means and sent onto a transmission line. Whereas a demultiplexing means demultiplexes the optical signal of the predetermined wavelength from the optical signal received via the transmission line, and a restoration means restores the test signal by converting the demultiplexed optical signal into an electric signal. A notification means is also provided for notifying abnormality in the scramble means that has scrambled the test cell, based on a result of inspecting normality of the test signal using an inspection means, based on a result of comparison between the above test signal and a result of scrambling to be obtained in accordance with the test cell. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
