PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device designed such that a reduction in abnormal sound emitted during the period of one roller-rotation is achieved at a low cost. SOLUTION: The fixing device 2 fixes a toner image to paper by applying heat and pressure to the paper that is conveyed while held in a nip between a heat roller and a pressure roller 8 rotated in firm contact with each other. The bosses 16 of the pressure roller 8 are rotatably supported by bearings 20a and 20b fixed to arm frames 18a and 18b respectively. The bearings 20a and 20b are fixed by the arm frames 18a and 18b such that the center axial line C<SB>B</SB>of each bearing is situated almost in the same plane as the rotation center axial line C<SB>P</SB>of the boss 16 and also the center axial line C<SB>B</SB>is situated downstream of the nip in the direction of paper conveyance outside the bearing.
