PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device which does not require to provide protective circuits as many as the number corresponding to every control signal, by constituting circuits so as to detect an abnormal state in basic clocks and pixel clocks to protect a display panel or the like, which avoids problems of an erroneous operation of a protective circuit itself, and which reliably prevents deterioration in the display panel or driving circuits. SOLUTION: The display device is equipped with a pixel clock generation means 9 to generate pixel clocks (b) on the basis of basic clocks (a), a control means 4 to generate timing signals on the basis of the pixel clocks (b), a driving means to drive and control the display panel on the basis of timing signals, and a detection means to detect an abnormal state of the pixel clock generation means 9 to produce an abnormal signal (c). The control means 4 outputs a control signal (d) on the basis of the abnormal signal (c), and the driving means controls the display state of the display panel to a predetermined state on the basis of the control signal (d).
