<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thin folding type portable information terminal with a simple structure capable of efficiently utilizing a light supplied from a light source and capable of optimization of a light quantity to be supplied to a liquid crystal display panel by enabling lighting control of the light source. <P>SOLUTION: The folding type portable information terminal is provided with a display unit case having a light guiding plate 11 for guiding a light from a light source 14 provided on a side wall surface to both front and rear surfaces, a first liquid crystal display panel 15 for transmitting a light when a voltage is not applied, a second liquid crystal display panel 30 smaller than the first panel, and a control means 47 for controlling to light the light source 14; and an operation control unit case 52 having an operation key 52b, wherein the cases are coupled with each other by a coupling mechanism so that the terminal can be foldable. In this terminal, the operation case has a surface which opposes the first liquid crystal panel and is worked into a mirror surface, a plurality of light-emitting diode elements 13a is used as the light source 14, and the control means 47 causes the plurality of light-emitting diode elements 13a to selectively light to illuminate the liquid crystal panel. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
