<p>1300861 Making squirrel cage rotors SIEMENS AG 29 Jan 1970 [30 Jan 1969] 4425/70 Heading B3A [Also in Division H2] A dynamo-electric machine squirrel cage rotor is formed by sliding a slotted magnetic core inside a squirrel cage structure comprising a cylindrical array of bars 41 joined by end rings 42 which project radially beyond the array and have an inner diameter greater than that of the array. Discs are then placed against the ends of the core and the end rings shrunk on to them by an electromagnetic forming process. The squirrel cage structure is of copper or aluminium and is formed by broaching as a single unit. The bars 41 may be straight or helical, and may have a trapezoidal crosssection.</p> |
