PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fluorescent lamp improved in the problem of a present fluorescent lamp that a heat shrinkable tube for holding a linear external electrode wound around a glass tube causes the reduction of the transmittance factor of light and the formation of a gap between an external electrode and the outer surface of the glass tube, leading to the breakage of the fluorescent lamp due to corona discharge in the gap, moreover when the lamp is bent into an L shape used as a backlight, its relative brightness becomes uneven. SOLUTION: A glass tube 11 having internal electrodes 15 and 16 at both inner ends, respectively is bent and a barrier 20 is formed in the bent section 19 of the glass tube 11 to divide a discharge space.
