The motor vehicle (1) has a quiet drive with a noise level lower than 65 dB, especially at least partly in the form of an electric motor and the collision avoidance system has an acoustic and/or an optical signal generator (2,3) that generates an acoustic and/or optical warning system independently of the driver's wishes. At least one sensor detects hazardous situations in the sense of a possible collision. An independent claim is also included for a method of operating a motor vehicle.
