<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To disclose a method for developing and managing workflows. <P>SOLUTION: The method enables the development of workflows from workflow templates and/or preprogrammed components; associating a workflow with a schedule; modeling a workflow as a plurality of tasks and a plurality of human-to-human or human-to-computer interaction points; and persistently storing the internal state of a workflow.
