PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for inspecting a wire saw, by which method and apparatus, the wire saw having high machining performance can be stably manufactured by keeping cutting-off performance of the wire saw excellent by detecting its grain spacing, and also by preliminarily preventing the deterioration of the cutting performance of the wire saw by detecting the protruded height of grains on the surface of the wire saw. SOLUTION: In the method for inspecting the wire saw having abrasive grains 23 fixed around a core wire 21 by a bonding material, the fixed state of the abrasive grains 23 is inspected by detecting the number of the abrasive grains 23, the spacing of the abrasive grains 23, the protruded height of the abrasive grains 23 by photographing the projected image of the wire saw.
