PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sliding member having excellent wear resistance and thermal conductivity and capable of responding to higher pressure and a longer service life, and a reciprocating compressor equipped with the sliding member. SOLUTION: This rider ring (sliding member) is formed by a composite material including bronze powders of≥10 wt.% and≤50 wt.%, molybdenum disulfide of≥3 wt.% and≤10 wt.%, carbon fibers of≤1 wt.% and a remaining part comprising modified polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE).
