<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display apparatus capable of reducing large-area flickers which occur, when the vertical synchronous signal frequency is low as in the European TV standards, and reducing moving false contour which occurs caused by a sub-frame method. <P>SOLUTION: In the display apparatus which performs multiple grayscale display by dividing one frame period of an input image signal into a plurality of sub-frames and selecting a necessary sub-frame according to an input grayscale of the input image signal, and which has two sets of coding tables, in which the characteristics of an output grayscale to an input grayscale are different from each other, the positions of the uppermost sub-frame in which the moving image false contour is likely to occur, are made different between a first group and a second group of the coding table a, and between a first group and a second group of the coding table b. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
