PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology of suppressing image deterioration of recompressed image data, in an image forming apparatus provided with reduced layout function.

SOLUTION: An image processing method for generating reduced layout image data from a plurality of image data as configuration image data includes a step S1008 of decoding the plurality of configuration image data, each being compressed by using respectively individual compression parameters; a step S1007 of extracting common compression parameters for compressing the plurality of configuration image data, on the basis of each compression parameter of the plurality of configuration image data and assigning the common compression parameter to each of the plurality of configuration image data; a step S1009 of recompressing the plurality of configuration image data by using the assigned common compression parameter; a step S1010 of combining the plurality of configuration image data subjected to the recompression as image data of one and the same page; and a step S1012 of outputting the combined image data.
