PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gear transmission device for surely preventing unexpected axial rash actions of transmission shafts similarly to a conventional one while simplifying construction and reducing man-hours for assembling. SOLUTION: The gear transmission device comprises the first and second transmission shafts 2, 3 rotatably borne to a transmission case 1 with their axial lines A1, A2 crossing each other, and first and second bevel gears 4, 5 spline-pressed and joined into adjacent ends of the first and second transmission shafts 2, 3 for meshing with each other. On the adjacent ends of the first and second transmission shafts 2, 3, positioning flanges 2a, 3a are formed which abut on small-diameter end faces of the first and second bevel gears 4, 5. On outer peripheries of the positioning flanges 2a, 3a, conical faces 12, 13 are formed which abut on each other when the first and second transmission shafts 2, 3 are relatively moved adjacently in the axial direction.
