PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the knowledge of a storage manager about computer systems in consideration of the fact that while opportunities to operate a computer system using the replica function of a storage device for purposes of backing up business data, taking measures against disasters and the like are increasing, creating a replica requires a storage manager to designate a normal volume, the replica function of a storage device, a storage device where an auxiliary volume is to be created, the auxiliary volume, and a computer to which the auxiliary volume is allocated. SOLUTION: A configuration management program for managing the volume configuration of a computer system is provided. The configuration management program collects configuration information from a host computer to be managed, switches and storage devices, and creates a relationship between the purpose of using an auxiliary volume and the definition of a replica configuration. Once a storage manager designates the normal volume and its purpose of use, the component management program allocates the auxiliary volume to the host computer according to the computer to which the auxiliary volume is allocated, the storage device where the auxiliary volume is to be created, and the replica function, all of which match the designated purpose of use.
