PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water quality measuring instrument that can avoid the occurrence of errors in the measurement of water quality as much as possible and also has improved handling properties by securing the thickness of the sample vessel uniformly, always facilitates positioning accurately when storing the sample vessel at a sample vessel storage section, and prevents the surface of the body of the sample vessel from being contaminated or wetted. SOLUTION: The water quality measuring instrument comprises the sample vessel 110, having the sample vessel body 111 for loading sample water and a sample vessel lid 120 for blocking the opening of the sample vessel body 111; a body 100 in the water quality measuring instrument, having a sample vessel storage section 101 for detachably fitting the sample vessel 110; and engagement mechanisms 106, 116 for positioning and holding the sample vessel 110 in a prescribed direction when storing the sample vessel 110 at the sample vessel storage section 101.
