PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase a detection accuracy for the amount of intake air sucked into an internal combustion engine. SOLUTION: An air amount detection time Ti for detecting the amount of the intake air is set based on an actual suction time Tr in which the intake air is actually sucked into cylinder chambers. After the averaged value Qa of the intake air amounts in times other than the air amount detection time Ti between intake strokes and it is confirmed that the half of the air amount detection time Ti (n+1) in this stroke, an air amount correction factor Ka is multiplied by the averaged value. Also, the averaged value Qa of the intake air amount is divided by the air amount detection time Ti (n+1) to deduct the averaged value Qa of the intake air amount from the intake air amount Qin in the air amount detection time Ti (n+1).
