PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for purifying drinking water, which is used for removing a chemical substance such as chlorine contained in drinking water. SOLUTION: Drinking water is made to pass slowly through a light-transmissive transparent or translucent vessel 7 where natural zeolite 6, 6 is housed. As a result, the chemical substance contained in drinking water is stuck to innumerable minutes voids of zeolite 6, 6 and the stuck chemical substance is decomposed by photosynthesis.
