PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus and an imaging support method for providing advice information without restraining the imaging action of a photographer by allowing the photographer to feel permission by the apparatus. SOLUTION: When the photographer takes a typical amateur photo, since the imaging apparatus 1 starts an imaging support system, the system does not restrain the imaging action of the photographer and the photographer can feel that the imaging action of the photographer is first permitted. The photographer can easily accept the advice information after the photographer feels that the imaging action of the photographer is permitted. Further, when the imaging apparatus displays first image data whose layout is coincident with that of an inadequate layout pattern image and second image data whose layout is coincident with that of an optimum layout pattern image side by side on a display section, since it is naturally understandable, the photographer can really feel the difference.
