PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem wherein both the resolution and the penetration characteristics are made routinely fixed into one, since ultrasonic waves radiated from a vibrator 2 can generate only a single focus. SOLUTION: In an ultrasonic transducer 10, a first vibrating section 11 comprising a part of cut sphere and a ring-shaped second vibrating section 12, resulting from cutting a sphere having a diameter larger than that of the sphere of the first vibrating section 11 in parallel into predetermined width are integrally configured by a first separator 13. A ring-shaped third vibrating section 21, resulting from cutting a sphere having a diameter larger than that of the sphere of the second vibrating section 12 in parallel into predetermined width is integrally constituted with a terminal portion of the ring-shaped second vibrating section 12 by a second separator 21. The first, second and third vibrating sections 11, 12 and 22 are integrally constituted by an outer backing 26 of external electrodes 16, 20 and 25. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
