PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotating anode X-ray tube capable of easily detecting liquid metal leakage. SOLUTION: In the case that a vacuum vessel 3 is made of a metal, it is hard to confirm the leakage of a liquid metal 26 from the outside of the vacuum vessel 3. The leakage of the liquid metal 26 does not become evident immediately in a withstand voltage. A monitor electrode 32 penetrates and is electrically insulated through/from the vacuum vessel 3. When the liquid metal 26 leaks from a gap between a rotating member 15 and a fixed shaft 21 and flows into a recessed part 34, insulation resistance between the vacuum vessel 3 and the monitor electrode 32 becomes low. The insulation resistance between the vacuum vessel 3 and the monitor electrode 32 is measured by a leakage detector. If the insulation resistance between the vacuum vessel 3 and the monitor electrode 32 is low, it can be decided that the liquid metal 26 leaks.
