PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording medium reproducing device which changes the display state to the optimum setting corresponding to the angle of the front panel, without requiring an illumination unit at the recording medium insertion hole, a navigator system, its control method and program, and a recording medium thereof. SOLUTION: A recording medium reproducing device has a body 10 having an opening at the front to insert a recording medium to reproduce the data of the recording medium inserted into the opening, and a front panel 11 which has a display unit 14 to display various information and is inclined by its upper fringe moving along the front surface of the body 10 to expose the opening. Further, it has a display control means to bring the display unit 14 to the predetermined display state, to illuminate the opening, when the display unit 14 is inclined with respect to a position of exposing the opening.
