PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information recording/reproducing device capable of recognizing the recording form of data to be recorded in a recording medium, converting data into that of the recognized data recording form, recording the data in the recording medium and preventing the overlapping of a file name, a directory name, and the like when data recorded in the recording medium and/or data edited on the basis of the recorded data are recorded, and to provide a program and an information recording medium. SOLUTION: The information recording/reproducing device, configured so that at least first and second recording media can be mounted, comprises a reproducing means for reproducing data recorded in the first recording medium; a recognition means for recognizing the data recording form of the second recording medium; a conversion means for converting the reproduced recorded data of the first recording medium into the data of the recognized data recording form; and a recording means for recording the converted data in the second recording medium.
