PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an internal combustion engine for a small planing boat enabling a reduction in overall height by narrowing the lateral width of an oil pan to align it with the bottom shape of the small planing boat and also maintaining small the vertical width thereof. SOLUTION: In this internal combustion engine for the small planing boat, the oil pan 27 is joined to the lower surface of a crankcase 23 from the underside along the bottom of a hull. A cavity 9 opened in a long one side face in the longitudinal direction of a body and communicating with the oil pump is formed of a frame wall projected roughly vertically in the oil pump.
