PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reverse gear noise preventing device for a transmission, having simple construction for preventing gear noises when a reverse idler gear meshes with a reverse gear by making an other-side synchro-ring abutting portion formed on the other side face of an input gear, abut on the synchro-ring of the other shift device during reverse shift (a reverse stage) to stop the rotation of the input shaft. SOLUTION: On one side face of the input gear, a one-side synchro-ring abutting portion and a dog portion are provided which abuts on the synchro-ring 108 of one shift device during a forward stage and which meshes with a shift sleeve of one shift device, respectively. On the other side face of the input gear, the other-side synchro-ring abutting portion and a release portion 136 are provided which abuts on the synchro-ring of the other shift device during a reverse stage and which releases the shift sleeve of the other shift device, respectively.
