OPEN LOOP POWER CONTROL METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR MOBILE SATELLITE SYSTEM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control transmission power of a mobile terminal utilizing GPS location information of the mobile terminal and the strength of power of a received satellite tracking signal.

SOLUTION: GPS location information of a mobile terminal is received. The GPS location information is utilized to predict an EIRP value (EIRPcal) to be transmitted. GCinithat is a gain value corresponding to EIRPcalis determined. The GPS location information is utilized to predict BCestthat is the strength of receive power of a satellite tracking signal to be received in a present location based on a fine day. The said GCiniis reflected with a differential value between BCinithat is the strength of receive power of the satellite tracking signal that is received when the mobile terminal is initially connected, and the predicted BCest, and a gain value GCcurto be transmitted is set. As an EIRP value corresponding to GCcur, power of the mobile terminal is transmitted.
