<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric disc brake with a brake piston whose front end abuts on the backing metal of one of both disc pads and an electric motor connected via a reduction mechanism to a screw shaft threaded to a nut engaging with the brake piston in a relatively non-rotatable manner, the brake piston being preventive of rotation during operation with the electric motor and being aligned to the axis of a cylinder hole to assure smooth operation. <P>SOLUTION: On the front end face of the brake piston 17, at least a pair of engaging grooves 41 are provided in point symmetry to a center C of the brake piston 17 with its shape being gradually wider as tending inward to the radial direction of the brake piston 17. On the backing metal, a pair of engaging pins 43 to be inserted in engagement with the pair of engaging grooves 41 are protruded at positions where distances from the center C of the brake piston 17 are the same in the state that the cylinder hole is coaxial with the brake piston 17. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
