<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which can suppress the gas accompanying corona discharging while preventing contaminants from sticking to the corona discharge components. <P>SOLUTION: The voltage applying circuit 44, which applies a voltage to the transfer roller 20 to transfer the toner images sticking to the surface of the photoreceptor drum 19 to paper, forms another charged area of the same polarity following the static charged area formed by the corona charger 18 by applying the same polarity voltage as applied to the discharging wire 32 of the corona discharger 18 to charge the photoreceptor drum 19. By charging with the transfer roller 20 instead of the corona charger 18, it can prevent contaminants from sticking to the discharging wire and suppress gas generation without giving adverse effects to the image forming. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
