PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately correct noise that is generated in an image by dust existing on an original platen. SOLUTION: The image reading apparatus comprises: three line sensors which are disposed in a sub scanning direction while being spaced from each other and scan an original in the sub scanning direction; an original platen provided between the original and the three line sensors; a moving mechanism for moving the original platen; a noise detection processing unit for detecting a noise pixel from multiple data output from the three line sensors; a second pixel extracting means (S103) for extracting a second pixel for correcting the noise pixel, the second pixel existing in first data based on a value of a first pixel which reads the same position of the original as the noise pixel, the first pixel existing in second data different from the first data; and correction means (S113, S114) for correcting the noise pixel based on the extracted second pixel.
