PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new innerspring assembly, especially for use in a mattress and in which the degree of freedom or mobility of springs is incorporated well to attain the "floating" or flexibility of springs at its end portions while providing conventional junction between adjacent springs, for example, by use of cross spiral connection. SOLUTION: The inner spring assembly (10) such as for use in the mattress comprises a plurality of coil springs (12) having upper and lower terminal convolutions (22) and (24) and body portions between them. Adjacent coil springs (12) are connected to one another at its body portions but are not at the terminal convolutions (22, 24), so that the terminal convolutions (22, 24) can move independently of one another.
