PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data communication system for distributedly arranging data into channels, where neither notches nor noises exist, thereby providing power line communication that exhibits proper quality of communication. SOLUTION: There are included a step S01, in which a pilot tone is transmitted from a data-transmitting apparatus to a data-receiving apparatus; a step S03 in which the data-receiving apparatus detects, based on the pilot tone, frequency bands, where notches exist, among the frequency bands used for a power line communication; a step S05 in which the data-receiving apparatus transmits, as channel information, the information of the frequency bands where the notches exist to the data-transmitting apparatus; a step S07 in which the data-transmitting apparatus sets, as the channels to be used for the power line communication, the channels of the frequency bands where notches do not exist; and a step S09 in which the data-transmitting apparatus places data, which are to be transmitted, into the channels, and then transmits the data to the data-receiving apparatus.
