PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently transfer and store data between a processor and a memory in a multiprocessor. SOLUTION: Data are locally compressed before the data are transferred to a shared memory. The memory stores the compressed data in the same arrangement as that in the case that the data are not compressed. A tag table 302 holds a compressed type of a data set of a given address block and a compressed data size. A data compressing part 304 and a data decompressing part 306 are mounted to a DMAC (direct memory access controller) 300 accessible to a plurality of co-processors.
