PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a skew correcting device capable of accurately correcting a skew of recording paper, without generating noise. SOLUTION: This skew correcting device has a left register sensor 213a and a right resister sensor 213b for detecting the recording paper, a left count part 101 for outputting a stopping request S1 by performing timer operation up to driving stopping time T1 after the left register sensor 213a detects the recording paper, a right count part 102 for outputting a stopping request S2 by performing timer operation up to driving stopping time T2 after the right register sensor 213b detects the recording paper, and a driving control part 103 for outputting a control signal Ca to a driving clutch 215a so as to stop driving of a left paper feeding roller 214a when receiving the stopping request S1 and outputting a control signal Cb to a driving clutch 215b so as to stop driving of a right paper feeding roller 214b when receiving the stopping request S2.
