PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink ribbon capable of increasing a printable region for the ink ribbon by reducing a region which distinguishes ink colors and a ribbon cassette as well as a printing method. SOLUTION: In the very front of each color region of an ink ribbon in which three primary color inks are alternatively formed, sensor marks 501, 504 and 507 are installed for identifying the ink color. Each sensor mark is composed of two marks. The first marks 502, 505 and 508 of the respective sensor marks 501, 504 and 507 are the same in width, and the second marks 503, 506 and 509 differ in width according to the ink color. Thereby, the ink color can be identified from the ratio in the width of the two marks when the ribbon sensor detects the sensor mark. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
